Medical equipment to lend to our Ela Township residents: walkers (with or without wheels), crutches, canes, wheelchairs, toilet risers, shower chairs. Applications for a parking placard are available at the Supervisor’s Office and must be filled out and signed by your physician. The township can issue a placard for a 90-day period. If the placard is issued for a longer duration, the township can issue the 90-day permit first, then send your application to the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office.
New voter? Change of address? Come to the Ela Township Supervisor’s and Clerk’s Office with an item that shows your current address, (drivers license, bill, or bank statement) and we will assist you with filling out a registration card and mail it to Lake County for you. In an election year, early voting is provided at Ela Town Hall. On election day, you must vote at your designated precinct.
Staff will notarize your important papers free of charge.
LIHEAP: (Low Income Heating and Electric Assistance Program):
The Illinois Low Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP) assists eligible low-income households with their heating and cooling energy costs, bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, weatherization and energy-related home repairs. Ela Township Vehicle Stickers:
Vehicle stickers are not required by Ela Township, but are available at no charge as a convenience to residents in unincorporated areas.
General Financial Assistance/Emergency Financial Assistance:
Ela Township provides help to those in need of financial assistance, overdue rent, car repair (if employed), gas, electric, water bills. Applications are processed in accordance with the standards set by the Department of Public Aid and guidelines approved by the Supervisor. If you’re an Ela Township resident 55 years or older, or are disabled, we have buses available for your weekday use for shopping, errands, early showings of movies and hair, doctor and dental appointments. Our buses run 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday within Ela Township. Hours are subject to change. The cost for bus service is $2 for one way or $4 for a round trip. Call (847) 438-6677.
