Internship Opportunities

Purpose of Internship:

The purpose of the internship is to provide a practical learning experience with the Ela Township and the Health & Wellness department which benefits both the student and the township.  An intern will learn how the Social Service system works within the confines of a Township. 

Internship Requirement:

  • Enrollment in a graduate social work or counseling program from an accredited college or university. 
  • Time commitment of at least 9 months, scheduled at 14 – 20 hours per week. Less intense scheduling may be negotiated, based on need. 
  • Successful completion of background check. 
  • Consideration will be given to your willingness to learn and receive supervision, level of maturity, ability to respond to a variety of learning experiences, interviews, application form and references. 

Social Work Program Overview:

The social worker provides many services within the community to improve levels of functioning for individuals and families. With an emphasis on group work and community involvement. Additional services consist of: crisis intervention, short term individual and family counseling, case management, group work for youth and seniors and information and referral. 

Internship Supervision:

Ela Township feels a strong commitment to the training and development of future professionals through a quality internship program. Supervision is provided by an experienced LCSW committed to the work and education of upcoming professionals in community social work. 

Opportunities:

Experience a diverse population of clients in a variety of settings and situations that allows you to observe different casework delivery, develop new and improve existing skills, applying theory in real situation, and personal/professional growth. 

This is a non-paying position. Applications are accepted year-round.
