Safe Sitter gives teens in grades 6-8 instruction on the most important aspects of caring for children. Topics include child care and diapering, basic first aid and rescue, personal safety, injury prevention, behavior management and more. In addition to learning about child care, participants will be discussing ethics and the business side of babysitting as well.
Sessions will be held at the Ela Community Center, 380 Surryse Road, in Lake Zurich, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates: March 17, May 19, July 7 and September 15.
Cost is $30 and includes a manual and completion card to be given out at the end of the class. Participants should bring a baby-sized doll if possible and must bring a sack lunch.
