Andrew (Andy), and his wife Patricia, have resided in Lake Zurich since 1989 with their 2 daughters. He is a graduate of Glenbrook North High School class of ’80. Andrew began working right out of high school in the construction trades, spending 12 years in Chicago on various hi-rise buildings. He entered the excavating business in 1992 and recently has retired from Lake County Grading Excavating after 25 years of service.
Coming out of retirement in 2016, he started as a part-time snowplow driver for the Ela Township Highway Department. He spent the next few years learning the day to day events that drive the department. In May of 2019, Andrew was appointed the position of Highway Commissioner after Bill Kruckenberg stepped down short of term.
Andrew was a volunteer for SIDS of Illinois from 2010 until 2016 participating in various promotions and events throughout the state. In 2016, he was elected to the Treasurers position and was instrumental in helping reshape the budget. He stepped down from that position in 2018 to focus on the Highway Department.
From 2003 until 2016, Andrew’s passion for racing came to the forefront as he owned and raced the #33 SuperCup race car. He was sponsored by a national tortilla chip company for several years. He won several heat races and features over the course of the years but retired due to injuries. His new hobby is his ’34 Ford Vicky.
