Seasonal Laborer

Job Description

Ela Township Highway Department is seeking a part-time employee to perform general public works tasks. Tasks are but not limited too, snowplowing, mowing, building maintenance, hand labor, driving vehicles and other equipment and tree trimming. This position requires the employee to work outside in all types of weather conditions. Safety is the most important responsibility. This position’s maximum weekly work hours Monday through Thursday from 6:30am until 3:30pm April to November. The hours of work will vary during the months of November through April for snow and ice control will vary. Snow and ice removal is a 24 hour on call operation. There is a max yearly hour of 900 hours.

Required Skills

Candidate will possess the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks each day. The ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently; ability to operate snowplow trucks with plows; ability to trim and remove trees; knowledge of occupational hazards and safety standards. Candidates should be reliable and show up on time. Positive, motivated work ethic. Candidate must be able to regularly lift and/or carry objects weighing 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

Required Experience

Candidate must have a satisfactory driving record. Requires a high school diploma or GED, formal training, special courses, self-education or specialized advanced training in this field is preferred. Requires at least 1 years’ experience in an equivalent work experience.

Salary: $25.00 Based on experience. Hourly US Dollar (USD)
