The Township Clerk is the keeper of all Township records except for active general assistance cases. The Clerk is required to keep accurate records of all Township board meetings and maintain records of the board’s executive sessions. During town board meetings, the clerk records roll call votes. The clerk also serves as the local election authority and is responsible for accepting petitions concerning Township elections and/or referendums. In this capacity, the Clerk is responsible for publishing or posting certain specific notices. The Clerk must also witness bid openings for Township.
New voter? Change of address? Come to the Ela Township Supervisor’s and Clerk’s Office with an item that shows your current address, (drivers license, bill, or bank statement) and we will assist you with filling out a registration card and mail it to Lake County for you. In an election year, early voting is provided at Ela Town Hall. On election day, you must vote at your designated precinct.
