About
The Township Clerk is the keeper of all Township records except for active general assistance cases. The Clerk is required to keep accurate records of all Township board meetings and maintain records of the board’s executive sessions. During town board meetings, the Clerk records roll call votes. The Clerk also serves as the local election authority and is responsible for accepting petitions concerning Township elections and/or referendums. In this capacity, the Clerk is responsible for publishing or posting certain specific notices. The Clerk also serves as a witness at bid openings for the Township.
New voter? Change of address? Come to the Ela Township Clerk’s Office for your voter registration needs. You must be a U.S. Citizen, a resident of your precinct for at least 30 days prior to election day, and 18 years of age. Bring with you two forms of identification, one including your current Lake County address, and both with your current name, and we will assist you with filling out a registration card and mail it to Lake County for you.
